North Sea Jazz returns September 3–5 with J Balvin, Jon Batiste, Sean Paul, Stephen Marley and a reason to see Curaçao beyond its beaches.

By September, New York is already being pushed toward fall. Curaçao is still hitting 86 to 90 degrees and gearing up for one of its biggest weekends of 2026.

Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival returns September 3–5 at Piscadera Bay with J Balvin, Jon Batiste, Sean Paul, Stephen Marley, Toto, PJ Morton, Rubén Blades, Gente de Zona and The Jacksons. Jazz may be in its name, but this lineup stretches into reggae, salsa, reggaeton, soul, funk and pop.

First launched on Curaçao in 2010, North Sea Jazz has grown into a major tourism draw. Its 2024 edition brought 6,232 international festivalgoers and 5,000 local attendees, generating more than $14.2 million in direct and indirect spending, according to festival organizers.

Curaçao has a much longer story. Arawak people lived on the island before European arrival in 1499. Dutch forces took control in 1634 and Curaçao later became a major hub in the transatlantic slave trade. Slavery was abolished in 1863. Curaçao became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 2010.

Today, about 158,000 people live on the 171-square-mile island. Papiamentu, Dutch and English are official languages. Willemstad’s historic center, known for its colorful waterfront and Dutch colonial architecture shaped by Caribbean influences, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Curaçao also has more than 35 beaches across roughly 79 miles of coastline and sits outside the main Atlantic hurricane belt. That makes September an especially attractive time to visit as festival season takes over.
