Against the stunning backdrop of Mexico’s beaches, Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves and Co-CEO AJ Kumaran hosted an unforgettable ‘Canecun’ Conference” for their team, celebrating their dedication and monumental growth since the pandemic. Initially planned for 2019, the event was postponed due to COVID-19 but returned bigger and better held at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, with one of the brand’s most notable fans, Snoop Dogg, and the most decorated U.S. female athlete, Katy Ledecky.

“When Todd first reached out to me, I didn’t hesitate. I was like, ‘Man, I’m all in,’” Snoop said, reflecting on his long-standing friendship with Graves. “Raising Cane’s isn’t just a fast-food joint; it’s about community. And that’s something I stand for. I’ve always been about uplifting my people.” Snoop’s relationship with the Raising Cane’s brand goes beyond his love for its chicken fingers—he deeply resonates with the company’s core values of giving back and fostering a supportive, family-oriented culture.Snoop and Grave’s friendship started when Snoop drove through a Raising Cane’s in Baton Rouge with Master P, and has developed into a collaboration based on mutual respect. “I’ve seen firsthand how Todd cares for his people,”

Snoop said. “He’s always giving back, whether it’s helping his crew buy homes or supporting local communities. That’s why I had to be here—to support what Raising Cane’s stands for.”

Graves spoke highly of his shared values. “Snoop has always been about giving back, just like we are. It’s why we work so well together. We’re both driven by the idea that success is only meaningful if you’re using it to help others.”

Snoop Dogg, who has redefined himself time and time throughout his career, is no stranger to overcoming adversity and breaking free from labels. Known for his early years in hip-hop, Snoop has since evolved into a businessman, philanthropist, and cultural icon who continues to remain relevant. “People have tried to put me in a box my whole life, but I’m not just a rapper—I’m a father, an entrepreneur, an ambassador for change,” Snoop said. His participation as an ambassador for the 2024 Olympics served as a reflection of that evolution, a role he accepted not only to represent his community but to highlight the excellence and unity that hip-hop can bring to the global stage.

“When I went to the Olympics, I wanted to show the world that hip-hop deserves to be right up there with rock and roll, country—any genre you can think of,” Snoop explained. “Hip-hop has always been about the people, about telling our stories and bringing joy even through the hard times. That’s what I wanted to show the world—our unity and our culture.”

For Snoop, it was about ensuring that hip-hop received the respect it deserves, elevating it to a place where its impact is recognized. Snoop has managed to keep his brand on top of people’s minds forever evolving with cultural shifts. “I’ve been through a lot,” he admitted. “But I’ve always believed that you’re more than your label.”
During a wrap-up press conference, Graves and Kumaran took time to reflect on the challenges that the company has faced and the values that have driven Raising Cane’s explosive growth. “We’ve grown 37% in sales this year and opened in 18 new markets,” Kumaran shared. “And that success comes down to one thing—our people. From the managers to the crew members, everyone has played a part in building this.”

Kumaran added, “This conference was originally planned for 2019, but it’s even more meaningful now. We’re here today because of the hard work and dedication of our team. That’s why we’re celebrating—it’s about showing appreciation.” Graves and Kumaran emphasized Raising Cane’s focus on its people. “Our success isn’t just about sales or expansion—it’s about making sure our crew members have the tools to succeed,” Kumaran explained. This includes initiatives like the First-Time Homebuyer Program, which helps managers secure homes by contributing $10,000 toward their closing costs. “It’s about creating real opportunities for growth, both in their careers and personal lives,” Kumaran added.

The true magic of Raising Cane’s comes from the culture they’ve built. “We didn’t set out to just make money,” Graves said. “We wanted to build something that lasts—something that takes care of people.” The beachside celebration, with its luxury feel and drone light show which spelled out Raising Cane’s company culture, showed how the invested CEOs spared no expense when it came to rewarding its restaurant partners.

As Snoop took to the turntables for his set, the crowd erupted in chants,” SNOOOPPPPP.” The beach party took on a whole different mood- it was time to turn up. From local cultural performers to curated fireworks, and a draw dropping drone show the energy of the night spoke to the larger narrative—this was a celebration of not just business success but of values and the power of building something meaningful.

“We’ve come a long way since we opened our first location, but what’s most important is that we’ve stayed true to who we are,” Graves said. “Our people are everything to us, and as long as we keep focusing on that, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”
