Jordan Peele’s HIM Pushes Fame to Its Darkest Limits
What would you sacrifice to become the greatest of all time? HIM, a psychological horror produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, explores this question as it arrives in theaters on September 19, 2025. The story follows Cameron Cade, a college football star whose life is defined by the sport. On the eve of the NFL scouting Combine, he is assaulted by a fan and suffers a traumatic brain injury, putting his career in jeopardy.
With his future hanging in the balance, Cameron receives an invitation from his idol, Isaiah White, an eight‑time championship quarterback and cultural icon. White offers to train him at a secluded compound shared with his wife, Elsie White. Initially, this chance seems like salvation. However, as Cameron immerses himself in the intense regimen, Isaiah’s charismatic mentorship shifts into manipulation and control, pulling Cameron into an unsettling dynamic. The tension between recovery and exploitation drives the narrative, revealing how devotion to greatness can transform into obsession.
The film’s cast reflects this balance of athleticism and fame: Tyriq Withers portrays Cameron Cade, bringing to life a promising athlete on the verge of stardom. Marlon Wayans plays Isaiah White, a revered veteran whose shadow looms large. Julia Fox appears as Elsie White, adding glamour and complexity.

Supporting roles feature Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies, while newcomers Maurice Greene, Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack make their feature film debuts. Director Justin Tipping leads the project, working from a screenplay by Zack Akers, Skip Bronkie and Tipping. Peele, alongside producers Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld and Jamal M. Watson, aims to merge sports drama with horror in a way that challenges audiences.
The trailer hints at the isolation of the compound and the physical rigors of training. Shots of ice baths, weight plates and unblinking stares suggest physical and psychological stakes. By examining the pressures athletes face and the allure of mentorship gone wrong, HIM promises a chilling perspective on what it takes—and what it costs—to chase greatness.
